If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever ~ Captain H. William "Bill" Visscher, 50, of Nichols, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Bill, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born on November 25, 1964 in Endicott a son of Howard William and Carol (Eichhorn) Visscher. He was a graduate of Tioga Central High School class of 1982. Many will remember Bill as he assisted his father in the operation of the family Auction business. Dedicated to his community, Bill was a member of the Nichols Fire Company, where he served as Captain and member of the Water Rescue Squad. In addition, he served as treasurer for the Tioga County Fair Board, member of the Tioga County Agriculture Society, Tioga County Farm Bureau, and treasurer for the Nichols Ro-ki Club. In addition to his parents, Howard and Carol Visscher of Nichols; Bill will be missed by his wife Leona; his children: Danielle Duffek of Owego; Sara (Jason) Poole of Waverly; Cole Duffek of Nichols; Jenna Visscher at home; his siblings: Matthew P. (Tracy) Visscher of NYC; Christine (Tom) LaFave of Erieville, NY; Hope Ann (Matthew) Carter of Nichols; a granddaughter Aaralynn Poole; Aunts and Uncles: Steven and Anna Eichhorn of Midland Park, NJ; Harry and Marilyn Myers of Nichols; Rev. Hank and Chris Vlaardingerbroek of Hudsonville, MI; Ruth Webster of Maplehurst, MO; Virginia Visscher of Montour Falls, NY; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: David and Pat Clark of Windham; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Cheryl and Andrew Lyn of NJ; Samuel Clark of Windham; his nieces and nephews: Peter, Arthur, Grace, Samuel, Rachel, many cousins and friends also survive. Bill was predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Peter and Theresa Visscher; maternal grandparents: Herbert and Jessie Eichhorn; and an uncle Robert Visscher. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, April 30th from 4 - 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of Bill's life will be held on Friday, May 1st at 10 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan Martin officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
