Halbert Carl Brink, 81, of LeRaysville, PA

Born September 19, 1944 at Robert Packer Hospital. Halbert was the son of C. Hal Brink and Marian Watson Brink. Halbert graduated from Northeast Bradford High School in 1963 and later earned his bachelor's degree at Penn State University. As a teenager he worked on dairy farms for Oly Chaffee and Bill Davis. As a young man he owned a ‘55 Chevrolet with a 283 engine and later a ‘55 Chevrolet with a 348 engine, both great cars according to his brother, Stuart Brink. After high school, Halbert worked at Marvin Rought’s garage in LeRaysville and on logging jobs for Buckey Edwards. While at Penn State, he worked for Pat Daugherty, owner of the Tavern Restaurant in State College. Halbert started his career in Owego, NY as a probation officer. Not long thereafter he became the Director of Probation for Tioga County, NY, working for the department 33 years. Long interested in antiques, especially hand tools, he spent his retirement collecting and selling antiques tools with his son Geren. Halbert would frequently turn up nearly anywhere for an auction or to shop at an antique store. Halbert and Geren took many trips to the Brimfield Massachusetts antique shows together, trying their best to keep up on the highway with their good friend Edward Wilson of Mansfield, Pa. They made many friends there and at the Madison Bouckville antique show. Halbert also loved going to movies. He raised pigs in the late 70’s and early 80’s and later beef cattle with his brother. He taught his son about raising beef cattle and Geren continues that today.

During a long period of declining health, he shared his home with his son, Geren, daughter-in-law, Shannon, and granddaughter Marian, whom he loved dearly. Through his many health trials, Halbert enjoyed keeping up with friends and staying informed on current politics. He will be missed by the many people he made an impact on, especially his son, who felt he could always count on him.

Halbert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Geren and Shannon Brink, and his granddaughter, Marian. In addition, he is survived by his brother Stuart (Donna) Brink, their children: Tim (Cindy) Brink, Tyler (Maryesther) Brink, Eric (Margaret) Brink. His sister Marylynne (Donald) Cronk and their children: Jason (Becky) Cronk, Leah (Clayton) Tyson. Many great nieces, nephews and the mother of his son Geren, Lori (James) Gridley. Halbert was also blessed with dear friends Kathy Roush and Brian Coleman. Halbert, and his family, hold a special place in their hearts for his caregivers April Middaugh, Theresa Moore, and Sam Keir. He was predeceased by his parents in 1994. The family wishes to express thanks to the many transporters to and from health care appointments, Towanda Guthrie Home Health nurses and physical therapists. Thank you to Guthrie Health Care, Elderwood, and the Towanda Personal Care Home.
