Harold "Bus" Wells Eiklor

Surrounded by his loving family, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Harold "Bus" Eiklor, 82, of W. Whitcomb Hill Rd., Smithboro went home to be with his Lord, Thursday August 16, 2007. Bus, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on September 8, 1924 in Barton, NY the son of Daniel James and Nancy Elizabeth (Wells) Eiklor. Bus was a veteran of the US Marines and proudly served his country in the South Pacific. For many years, Bus was employed by the Town of Tioga Highway Department. In addition, he also owned and operated the family farm in Smithboro. Bus was a member of the Smithboro United Methodist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing and being surrounded by his family. Bus is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 59 years, Joan Bennett Eiklor; his daughters and sons-in-law Paula and Paul Goble of Waverly, NY; Lois and Jack Gowan of Smithboro, NY ; son and daughter-in-law Dan and Rose Eiklor of Waverly, NY; his special grandchildren Carrie, Don, Jennifer, Janet, Kristen, Eric and Amy; great grandchildren Shane, Dylan, Ada, Johanna, Bowie, Kira; ten nieces and nephews. Bus was predeceased by his parents, two brother and two sisters. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Bus' life on Monday, August 20th at 12 noon at the Smithboro United Methodist Church, Church St., Smithboro with his pastor, Rev. Laurence Mather, OSL, officiating. A period of visitation will be held on Monday from 11 am until the time of the service at the church. Flowers will be provided by the family and memorial contributions may be directed to the Smithboro United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Shirley Mayer, PO Box 89, Smithboro, NY 13840.
