Hazel M. Culver

Hazel M. Culver, 83, of Fulton Street, Waverly, NY and formerly of Nichols passed away on March 13, 2013 at the Ashton Healthcare Facility in Athens following a period of declining health. Hazel was born on April 7, 1929 in Triangle, NY a daughter of the late Ward and Marguerite (Pettis) Rice. Hazel enjoyed completing puzzles and was an avid collector of frogs. Hazel is survived by her sons: George Rice of N. Barton; James L. Culver, Jr. of Nichols; John E. Culver of Apalachin; daughters Carolyn Brown of Waverly; Beverly Soden of Endicott, Tina Burlingame of Candor; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, Ward and Marguerite Rice, her siblings: Donald, Richard, William, Robert, and Doris; and a granddaughter Amanda Chandler. Funeral services and a celebration of Hazel's life will be held on Monday, March 18th 2013 at 2pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Ronald Parks, officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held on Monday from 1 pm until the time of the service at 2pm.
