G. Henry Manwaring, Jr., fondly known as Henry, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side, on August 24, 2023, in Largo, Florida. Born on July 10, 1944, in Johnson City, NY, Henry was a man of devoted faith and deep compassion.
Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lamoine C., with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, his son, Daniel Manwaring, his parents, Esther Ruth (Tubbs), George Henry Manwaring, and his sister Shirley Manwaring. His family was his pride and joy.
Dad will be missed by his children: Karyn (Kevin) Wurth, Jill Sylvester, Andrea (Daniel) Whitman, Karen MacCartney, and Sarah (Daniel) Humphreys. His grandchildren: Adrienne (Steven) Eames, Matthew (Desiree) Wurth, Nathaniel (Shay) Wurth; Kayla Sylvester, Daniel (Julie) Sylvester, Joshua Sylvester, Noah Sylvester; Ezra (Jackie) Cerretani, Eva (Ali) El-Gassier, Isaac Cerretani; Hannah (Matthew) Johnson, Caleb (Madeline) Manwaring, Grace (Caleb) Shipman, Ari Manwaring. His great grandchildren: Brock, Micah, Alister, Adaline, Dylan, Mason S., Nora, Gabriel, Spencer, Mason C., Allison, Luca, Mohamed and Ayla. His siblings: Nancy Johnson, Judy (Ray) Habiger, Ron (Sherry) Manwaring, Alice (Danny) Ferrell, Carol (Stephen) Stone.
A graduate of Whitney Point high school, Henry furthered his education at Zion Ministerial Institute, where he received his Diploma in Ministry. This spiritual journey laid the foundation for a life of service and dedication to his faith. His unwavering belief and commitment were evident in his work, where he extended his love of the Lord to those in prisons and nursing homes.
Henry was also an active member of the Gideons International and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Church, Waverly, New York and Seminole Assembly, Largo, Florida. Outside of his ministry, Henry was a well-known and respected dairy farmer in Barton, where he owned and operated the family farm. His love for fishing was evident, especially in the coastal waters of Clearwater. His friends and family will fondly remember his love for the land and sea.
Henry will be deeply missed by all who knew him and although we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life, remembering the love he shared, the faith he displayed, and the joy he found in ministering to others.
Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, September 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Friday, September 15th at 10:00 am at the funeral chapel. Henry will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Nanticoke Cemetery.
