The Honorable Charles Howard Quick, Nichols, N.Y. age 67 died on July 27, 2016 following a battle with prostate cancer. "Charlie" was predeceased by his father, Charles Jay Quick, mother and father- in-law Marion and Frank Shipley and his brothers-in-law, Kevin O. Smith, Wm. Arthur Shipley; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Moyer-Carr. Charlie leaves a wonderful large and loving family including his loving wife Barbara, his dear mother Beverly, sisters Cindy Q. Smith, Barbara Q. Tiffany (Richard), Andrea Q. Seeley (Mikel), sister-in-law Renee Shipley, brothers-in-law Frank Shipley III and Michael Carr. Charlie and Barbara were blessed to have four wonderful children, C. Joshua Quick, Rebecca A. Romano (Joe), Holly L. Quick, and Bryan A. Stradley. Three wonderful grandchildren, Vinny and Marisa Romano, and Grayson C. Quick were the light of Charlie's life. Also greatly loved and appreciated are his nephews and nieces Ryan K. Smith (Lori), Randy K. Smith (Laura), Eric Tiffany (Cat Ambrose), Katie Tiffany, Christie Seeley Dixon (Corey) and Mikel Seeley (Sarah) and special Aunt Mary Truesdale. Many beautiful memories were made along the way with this family. A true dog lover, Charlie also leaves behind his "buddy, pal and friend" Emmett. He graduated from Tioga Central High School in 1966 and Broome Tech in 1968. He served six years in the USMC Reserves. Charlie worked for Xerox 32 years until retirement. Charlie spent over 6 years on the Nichols Town Board before being elected Town Justice, serving for over 9 years until his passing. It shall be noted here that good fortune allowed Charlie to work with his unfailingly loyal and true friend, Pam, his Court Clerk from the beginning. Charlie was a long-time Elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Nichols and loved that old Church and its members very much. Also, while both Charlie and Barbara were working full time, they somehow managed to put over 10 years in with the Nichols Little League. Charlie's love of all things motorized continued throughout his lifetime and evolved from go karts to motorcycles to sports cars to hotrods. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, July 29th from 4 to 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 10 am at the Nichols United Methodist Church.
