Horst "Hank" Wagner

Horst Wagner, 76, of McCoy Rd., passed away at his home with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. "Hank" as he was affectionately known and remembered by will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Lisa (Arnold) Wagner; son and daughter-in-law James and Lori Wagner of Nichols; daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Chris Tracy of Binghamton; Sandra and Mark Pragle of Springwater, NY; sisters Christel Zeilinger of CA; Gerda Christman of Germany; grandchildren: Clifton, Jackee, Devon, Alex, Rayne; great grandchildren: Hunter, Rylee and Amin; several nieces, nephews and many beloved family and friends around the United States and Germany. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Gunter Wagner. Born on January 27, 1934 in Germany a son of the late Ernst and Helena (Hess) Wagner. He spent his youth and graduated from high school in Germany. Following graduation, he moved to the United States and proudly served his country with the US Army. On January 26, 1957 he married Lisa and together they owned and operated Wagner's Cakes and Cookies in Binghamton for 30 years. Dedicated to his community, Hank served on the Nichols Town Board, was a member of the Ro-ki Community Club, Nichols Masonic Lodge #333 F & AM and the American Legion. Funeral services and a celebration of Hank's life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Christopher Tracy, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Waits Cemetery, Owego. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Friday, October 22 from 5 to 8 pm. Masonic services will be conducted at the conclusion of calling hours. Visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11am.
