Howard G. Layer

A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong….Howard G. Layer, 69, a life-long resident of Nichols, passed away at the home he was born in on Thursday, October 1, 2015. Howard was born on August 18, 1946 a son of the late George H. and Lorena Elsie (Ockerman) Layer. He was a graduate of Tioga Central High School class of 1964. Howard was a former member of the Nichols Fire Department and a former social member of the Nichols American Legion. He enjoyed Nascar racing, fishing and old tractors. Howard will be greatly missed by his sisters Shirley Fox and Lu Harris; his special friend Linda Fairlie; nieces and nephews: Robyn Bruder, Wendy and Scott Rifenberg, Tammy and Kevin Warner, Roxanne Fox; great nieces and nephews: Jesseca and Peter Ferreri, Kimberly Fox and Cody Fox and a great great nephew CJ Ferrei. Several cousins and many friends also survive. Howard was predeceased by his parents, a infant brother Richard John Layer; sister and brother-in-law: Beverly and Otto Scott; sister Arlene Layer, brother-in-law: Ronald Harris.
