Howard A. Wilson, a cherished pillar of the West Warren community and a devoted family man, passed away on October 7, 2025, with family by his side. Born on December 2, 1946, in Waverly, New York, Howard's journey through life was marked by service, dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him.

A proud veteran, Howard enlisted in the US Army on May 19, 1966, and served his country with honor on active duty for 3 years. He returned home to build a life that would touch many, working at DuPont in Towanda, PA, for over 37 years. As a Customer Service and Pricing Specialist, Howard retired in 2006, shortly before being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, a battle he faced with courage and dignity for 19 years.

Howard's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of West Warren, where he was lovingly known as the "Potato and Squash Masher" for the harvest dinners. His service to the church included roles as Deacon, Moderator, Treasurer, Superintendent, and Sunday School teacher. Howard was the embodiment of the church's hands and feet, always ready to serve wherever needed.

His commitment to community was unwavering. For more than half a century, Howard was an integral part of the Warren Twp., Vol. Fire Company, serving in various capacities including Fire Chief for 8 years. His legacy of public service also included six years on the PA Election Board and countless donations as an avid blood donor.

A man of many interests, Howard was known for his 1935 Dodge Brothers Truck and 1942 Allis Chambers Tractor, taking great pride in showcasing them at car and tractor shows. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing, with many trips with friends and family. As a member of the Roman LeRay Franklin Masonic Lodge #418 for 50 years, Howard brought the same dedication he showed in all areas of his life, serving as worshipful master.

Howard's hands were rarely still, as he was a talented woodworker who crafted beautiful wooden items for his family and friends. His garden and land were a testament to his love for the earth and the joy he found in tending to it. A member of the VFW Haighs Pond and the Towanda American Legion, Howard's sense of duty and community was ever-present.

Howard was a beacon of love, kindness, and handiness, leaving a legacy of a life well-lived and well-loved. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Matthew Connor; his son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Jennifer Wilson; his grandchildren, Christopher (Kari) Wilson, Ayden Wilson, Jackson Connor, Ella Connor; his siblings, David and Sandra Wilson, Elaine and Michael McCann, Edward and Pennie Wilson,; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
