A mother holds her child's hand for a little while and their heart forever….surrounded by her family and those who she loved so deeply Ida Mae Shipman, 75, of Smithboro passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2013. Ida was born on November 8, 1937 in Waverly, NY a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Depew) Robbins. She attended school in Waverly, NY and many will remember Ida as a long time cashier for Jolly Farmer in Waverly. Ida treasured her family and especially enjoyed spending time with the babies and young children. She also enjoyed baking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Her kind ways will always be remembered by those whose hearts she touched. Ida is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Deborah (Sprague) and Terry Rogers of Nichols; her sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin and Laurie Shipman of Waverly; Gregory Shipman of Spencer; Mike and Sue Shipman of Towanda; Mark Shipman and Kim Swansbourgh of Waverly; her grandchildren among them Thomas and Misty, whom resided with her; grandchildren: Michelle, Cassandra, Jonathan, Joshua, Kevin, Cody, Keith, Mathew, Elisha, Michael, Ben, Albert, Samantha, Shawna, Keenan, Drew, David, Sydney, Eion, and Amelia; seventeen great grandchildren; her sister: Patti (Wade) Phelan of Endicott, NY; Charlotte Petty of Rome, Pa; Shirley Howard of Dumfries, VA; brother Frank Robbins of Waverly, NY; sisters-in-law: Sandy Robbins of Chemung, NY; Arlene Robbins of Raymond, NH; Mary Robbins of Waverly, NY; numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Ida was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mildred Robbins, daughter Lori Shipman; son Christopher Shipman; brothers: Charles "Arthur" Robbins, Louis Robbins; Norman Robbins, William Robbins; sister Louise Ennis; sister-in-law Roberta Robbins; brother-in-law: Corliss Howard; brother-in-law Charles Ennis; grandson Daniel Kiederling. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, June 25th from 3 to 5 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of Ida's life will follow at 5pm. Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to their local Head Start Program in their area in loving memory of Ida Mae Shipman.
