A mother holds her child's hand for a little while…and their heart forever. Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Irene Frances Reeve, 92, of Wyaulsing, Pa went home to be with her Lord, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Thursday, January 15, 2009. Irene was born on July 11, 1916 in Windham Center, Pa a daughter of Earnest and Mertie (Boardman) Elsbree. She attended school in Windham Center and spent her young adult years there. Irene was a member of the Windham Center Community Church, served as a 4-H leader to many area youths in Herrickville, Pa. Irene was a devoted mother and homemaker who always could be found helping anyone who has a task to complete. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and bird watching. Irene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Robert Proof of Homets Ferry, Pa; her special grandchildren: Jeffrey (Theresa) Wheeler of Windham Center, Pa; Ann-Rae (William) Travis of Homets Ferry, Pa; her great grandchildren: Kevin Wheeler of Windham Center, Pa; Faith-Rae and Grace Irene Travis of Homets Ferry, Pa; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Carol Harford of Ulster, Pa; Charles(Anna Mae) Reeve of Sayre, Pa; Marsha Reeve of Herrickville, Pa; Leola (Herbert) Abbott of Wellsburg, NY; Medie Lauring of OK; a special friend Donna Wheelock of Kansas; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Irene was predeceased by her husbands Paul Harford and Carl Reeve; a son Ray Harford, sisters: Marie Harford, Estella Harford and Mary Daily and a niece Gerry Seck. Funeral services and a celebration of Irene's life will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 1 pm at the Windham Center Community Church with her pastor, Rev. William Kohler, officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Home Cemetery, Windham. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Tuesday from 12 pm until the time of the service at the church.
