J. June Deming

A mother holds her child's hand for a little while….and their hearts forever~ Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Juanita June (Wilcox) Deming, 89, of Stanton Hill Rd., Nichols passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, March 7, 2013. June was born on November 25, 1923, in Grove, Pa a daughter of the late James and Marslette (Crandle) Wilcox. She was a graduate of Waverly High School and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Waverly Chapter #9. June was a Past Matron and a Past DDGM of the Eastern Star. On September 12, 1942, she married Chester Levine Deming together they celebrated 67 years of marriage until his passing on June 20, 2010. She enjoyed sewing and took up quilting, a hobby she shared with her daughters and extended family. She created many personalized quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that are cherished as family heirlooms. June is survived by her five children, Sue and Charles Alger of Nichols, Marsha and Rod Bouchoux of Deposit, Edward and Delisa Deming of Franklin, Tenn.; Donna and Philip Anderson of Madison, Wis., and Raymond and Denise Deming of Winnabow, NC; her sisters; Phyllis Bullock of Orange Park, Fla; and Shirley Jones of Waverly; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. In addition to her husband, June was predeceased by two brothers James Wilcox and Ray Wilcox, and her sister, Rhoda O'Brien. A service to celebrate June's life will be held on Monday, March 11th at 2pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Jon Austin, officiating. Order of Eastern Star services will be conducted at 2pm. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, March 11th from 12 to 2pm.
