James E. Vargason

If we could have one lifetime wish, one dream that could come true, we'd wish with all our hearts, for yesterday and you ~ On Wednesday, February 28, 2018 James Edward Vargason, 68, was surrounded by his family and those that meant the world to him passed away to his heavenly home. A life long resident of Nichols, James was born on February 10, 1950 ~ he was the son of Merritt and Amy (Baldwin) Vargason. Jim was a graduate of Tioga Central High School class of 1968 and on July 16, 1977 he married Karen Hardic. He was once employed by the Nichols Machine Shop, Sylvania and later the Fischer Machine and Tool Shop in Athens. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his woodshop, spending time outdoor ~ although his greatest blessing was that which he called his family. Jim will be greatly missed by his loving wife of forty years, Karen "Kay" Vargason; his children Michelle and her husband Michael Kiesinger of Dillsburg, PA; Marci and her husband Casey Kithcart; Michael Vargason all of Nichols; known as "Tappie" by his cherished grandchildren Gavin and Ryley; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Merritt and Sharon Vargason, Gary and Charlotte Vargason, John and Joanne Vargason; his sisters and brothers-in-law Ethel Strong, Tresa Juliano, Lois and Leo Holmes, Linda and David Cole; Mary Alverado. Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. James was predeceased by is parents Merritt and Amy Vargason; his brothers LeRoy Vargason, Chester Vargason and his sister Salva Archibald. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on this evening, Thursday, March 1st from 7 to 9 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 2ndat 4pm at the funeral chapel with his brother-in-law Pastor T. R. Hardic, officiating.
