James ”Jim” M. Burke

July 11, 1942 - December 19, 2022

Jim was born on July 11, 1942  in Queens Village NY and was raised in Long Island NY.  He had purchased property in

Warren Center Pa. in 1970 and his dream became a reality when he moved here permanently in

1991.

Jim is survived by  his wife of 34 years, Debbie.  His children: Timothy, Kelly (Mike) and Chris (Mindy), and his beloved grandchildren Cameron, Mackenzie, Kyla, Jake, Madison, Mason and Mia. A sister Grace (Tom), and a sister-in-law Sue.

Jim told it like it is and lived like he told it. He thought for himself instead of being told what to

think. He was unabashedly and unapologetically true to his principles…the good ones that far

too few people have these days. He had a jolly smile and a twinkle in his eye and was a

mischievous old fox. The people he most often teased were the people he most loved.

In 1992 he started working for Maines Paper and Food Company where he would form and run

the Maines Driving Training Institute until his retirement twice! He has taught many men and

women how to drive a truck and enjoy a wonderful new career.

Jim loved to garden and raise his fruit trees. He also loved to preserve the fruits of his labors.

He will be remembered by his friends and relatives for the many gifts of Jim’s jams, pickles and

fruit. He also was quite an artist, creating wooden bowls in his wood shop.

He also had a great love for all the ex-racing greyhounds that he and Debbie had adopted over

the years.

Despite his no nonsense New Yorker way and his rugged exterior Jim was sweet on the inside.

Jim was a good man and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

We have all been left a bit better off in knowing him.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at the Community Independent Bible Church in Little Meadows.  Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting his guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
