James "Pete" F. Olmstead, Sr.

James F. "Pete" Olmstead, Sr., 78, of Windham Township, Rome, Pa passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2015 following a period of declining health. Pete, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on May 10, 1936 in Nichols, NY a son of the late Harold "Hi" and Margaret (Rought) Olmstead. For many years, Pete was a truck driver for Canada Dry and later worked locally for Amato Construction. He was an avid race fan, enjoyed being outdoors and treasured conversations with his family and friends. Pete will be greatly missed by his son and daughter-in-law: James Jr. and Linda Olmstead of Warren Center, Pa; his daughters and son-in-law: Clista Mochrie of Pine City, NY; Tessie and Brian Henley of Lowman, NY; Karen Garrity of Lockwood, NY; a sister-in-law: Joanne Olmstead of Windsor; several grandchildren among them: David and Christy Olmstead of Rome, Pa; James W. Olmstead of Warren Center, Pa; several great grandchildren among them: Allison, Dylan and Darcie; a niece Marcia Cherry of Windsor, NY; nephews: Roger and Sandy Olmstead of Four Oaks, North Carolina; Charlie and Kelly Olmstead of Owego, NY and their families. A special friend and caregiver, Hazel Wayman of Nichols also survives. Pete was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Margaret Olmstead, his brothers William "Stub" Olmstead; Roger (Louise) Olmstead. Abiding with his wishes, there will be no services.
