James R. Swimelar

When someone you love becomes a memory….the memory becomes a treasure ~ James R. Swimelar, 74, of Waverly, NY passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 following a period of declining health in Danville, Pa. A lifelong resident of Waverly, Jim was born on June 2, 1943 a son of the Verna (Seymour) Swimelar and the late LeRoy Swimelar. He proudly served his country with the US Air Force. For many years, Jim was employed as a machinist with Ingersol-Rand. An avid collector, Jim enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets. Although his greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family and his grandchildren. In addition to his mother, Verna; Jim will be greatly missed by his son and daughter-in-law: James and Nicole Swimelar of Lowman; his daughter Shelly Swimelar of Sayre; his grandchildren: Rhiannon, Emerson, Colton, Mason, Brecken, Rowan Swimelar; Kalysta and Amicio LaManna; his siblings: Janet and Ron Keene, Linda Vough and Mac McGlothlin, Lee Swimelar and Phillip Swimelar. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 11 to 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Jim's life will follow at 1 pm with interment in the Nichols Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
