James William Rogers

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home….James William Rogers, Sr., 74, of Waits Road, Owego passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Jim was born on May 9, 1943 in Nichols a son of James T. and Niva Marie (Marshall) Rogers. Always carrying a smile and giving a friendly wave, Jim worked for Taylor's Garbage Service in their commercial division for thirty-two years. Many will also remember him for delivering the Owego Pennysaver throughout Tioga County. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time on his farm ~ although his greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by his family. Jim will be greatly missed by his children: James William Rogers, Jr., of Owego; Guy D. and Kathy Culver of Nichols; Mary Michelle Rogers of Ithaca; Debbie Pardoe of Owego; Stevie Pardoe of North Carolina. A son-in-law: Mark Helton; His siblings: Frank (Jane) Rogers of Owego, NY; Sandra Cosgrove of York, Pa; Richard (Barbara) Rogers of Windham, Pa; Peggy (Elmer) Talcott of Newark Valley; Roy Rogers of Nichols; Jack (Lorrie) Rogers of Endicott, Paul "Harvey" and Mary Rogers of Windham, Pa; Greg (Martha) Rogers of Nichols; Danny Rogers of Nichols; Judy Likashuk of B.C. Canada. His grandchildren: James N. Rogers (Amanda Martin); Isaac (Brooke) Rogers; Alicia Rogers, Shaleen Rogers, Luke Helton; Roman Rogers, Austin Bridge, Austin Culver, Brianna Culver, Dominick Manuel, Kyle Manuel, Montana Chrysler. His great grandchildren: Lily Mae Rogers and Elizabeth Helton. Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Jim was predeceased by his daughter Pennie Helton; and siblings: Pat Biller and Barbara Lupole. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 2 - 4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 4 pm.
