Jan

October 30, 1937 — October 23, 2023

“What a loving God we serve! Not only has He prepared a heavenly dwelling for us, but His angels also accompany us as we transition from this world to the next.”- Dr. David Jeremiah.

Janice Louise Bellinger, 85, of Warren Center, PA went to be with the angels on Monday morning, October 23, 2023 at the home of her beloved daughter Jodi (Ray) Sechrist, where for the past several years, she had been receiving the best possible care for her declining health. Many family members were holding her hands as she peacefully slipped away. Jan was born at home on October 30, 1937 a daughter of the late Lawrence and Gladys (Thorton) Whalen of Owego, NY. Jan was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family with all of her heart and soul and cherished spending time with them. Jan loved to read, work in her flower garden, make crafts, and play games- especially Pitch. She also enjoyed going to the casino and shopping. Music brought her great pleasure as well, but none more so than the songs that her son Rodger sang. An avid New York Yankees fan since she was very young, Jan was thrilled to watch their games and probably knew more about their stats than even most baseball professionals . She also was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants football team. As loyal as she was to her sports teams, Jan was also a dedicated and responsible employee. She worked as a seamstress in upstate New York, and as a secretary for the Bradford County Conservation District. She also worked as a custodian at the former IBM facility in Endicott, NY and as a sales clerk in Warren Center and Little Meadows where she had a sandwich named after her called the “Janwich”.

Jan will be greatly missed by her children: Rodger (Bobbie) Bellinger of Johnson City, NY; Keith (Virginia) Bellinger of Warren Center, PA; Steve (Sher) Bellinger of Bethel Springs, TN; Jodi (Ray) Sechrist of Rome, PA; Larry (Angie) Bellinger of Warren Center, PA; Tonya (Chad) Meek of LeRaysville, PA; a brother: James Whalen of Toledo, OH; sisters: Hazel Sherman of Owego, NY; Barbara Graham of Athens, PA; a brother-in-law: Gordon (Pearl) Bellinger of Rockport, TX; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, numerous bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jan was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Gladys Whalen; her siblings: George Whalen, Louis Whalen, Robert Whalen, and Marty Whalen; her daughter: Gail Bellinger; a son: Ricky Bellinger; her grandsons: Scottie Bellinger and Solomon Belllinger; and the father of her children: Donald Bellinger.
