Janet C. Lindhorst

Surrounded by her family, Janet Christine Lindhorst, 83, of Nichols passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 peacefully dreaming of the hills of Montana. Janet is survived by her husband, Marvin of at least 60 years; her children: Jeanette Christine Miller (Matthew), Gary Michael Lindhorst (Karen), Brian James Lindhorst (Jodi); grandchildren: Aaron (Brittney) Lindhorst, Russell Moyers, Jack Lindhorst-Moyers, Garrett Miller, Stetson Miller, Gavin Lindhorst, Garrett Lindhorst, Grant Lindhorst, and Quintan (Kati) Lindhorst. Her great grandchildren: Ava Lindhorst, Tori Rockwell, Olivia Rockwell, Cheyenne Moyers and Veda Bennett. Janet was born on May 6, 1936 in Missoula, Montana a daughter of the late Jack and Dorothy (Johnson) Rickert. Janet was a graduate of Columbia Falls High School in Columbia Falls, Montana and attended Montana State University to study Physical Therapy. She proudly served her country with the US Air Force from 1957-1959. For over twenty years, Janet was employed as a secretary at the Tioga County Dept. of Social Services. "Grandma" as she was affectionately called by numerous young people kept her door open, whether to lend an ear to hear their troubles or to get a hot meal and place to place their head for a day, she welcomed them all. Janet treasured her family, her dogs Rowdy and Lady, was a wiz at completing sudoku puzzles, and enjoyed having her occasional Old Fashioned. A special thank you to Susan Shea and Elaine Zurn for the love, care, their sense of humor, and patience with the family during this difficult time. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, January 21st from 11 to 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
