A mother holds her children's hands for a little while and their hearts forever…..Surrounded by her family, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend Jean W. Davis, of East St., LeRaysville, Pa went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 17, 2011. Jean was born on August 5, 1927 in Scranton, Pa a daughter of the late Arthur Carl Otto and Alta Marcella (Geary) Weber. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School in Scranton and in 1947 she received her degree in Medical Technology from Keystone Junior College. On January 15, 1949 she married William S. Davis Jr. and together they celebrated 42 years of marriage until his passing on May 6, 1991. Devoted to her children and grandchildren, Jean also assisted in the daily operations of the family dairy farm. She was a member of the LeRaysville United Church of Christ where she served as church secretary for nearly 27 years. Jean was a member of the LeRaysville Order of Eastern Star Chapter 498; served on the LeRaysville Borough of Elections and the Neath Cemetery Board of Directors. Although her greatest enjoyment was being a mother and Grandma Jean to many. Jean is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Susan Boardman, Marianne and Gary Hennip; Catherine and Stan Rezykowski; Martha and Chris Young; Jamie and Duane Cooper and Jeanette and Leonard Ostrander; her grandchildren: Casey, Emily, Jay and Daniel Boardman; Elisabeth (Stephen) Laudermilch; Leanne Hennip; Meredith Hennip; Stacy (Nick) Pease; Anthony (Amanda) Rezykowski; Steven Rezykowski; Janean (Jim) Eastman; Davis Young; Marilyce Young; Julie, Rachel, Maxon and Garrett Cooper, Lillian and William Ostrander; great grandchildren: Anna and Jimmy Eastman, Ruth Laudermilch. Also surviving is Jean's sister Ruth Leverich and sister-in-law Elisabeth Wilson; many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. Jean was predeceased by her parents, her husband William S. Davis, Jr., son-in-law Deville Boardman; granddaughter Heidi Hennip and a sister Marion Lombardi. Funeral services and a celebration of a life well lived for Jean will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11 am at the LeRaysville United Church of Christ with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Thomas I. Burlington, officiating. Interment will follow in the Neath Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Thursday, January 20th from 4 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols and on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service at the church.
