Jeanette Margaret (Nickles) Jones

of Warren Center, Pa

Jeanette Margaret Jones, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the Sayre Health Care Center where she had resided since June. Born on April 2, 1936, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Jeanette's vibrant spirit and nurturing presence touched many lives throughout her 88 years.

Jeanette's life was one of dedication to her family, her work, and her community. She is lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas B. and Dianne Jones, Lauren Jones, Alan, and Kimberly Jones; son-in-law, Donald Scott; her cherished grandchildren, Kristopher, Sarah (Belfrie), Brian, Steven Jones, Angie (Roy) White, Nathan Scott, Tiffany (Brandon) Freeman; and her adored great-grandchildren, Kaylea, Natalie, Kelsey Dodge, and Gabriella Freeman. Jeanette's memory is also honored by several nieces, nephews, and their families. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, H. Duane Jones, her daughter Luanne Scott, her brother and sister-in-law Pete and Wilma Nickels, a nephew Pete Nickles, Jr., and her treasured mini schnauzers, Tody, Jody, and Bentley.

Jeanette's working years reflected her nurturing spirit as she served as a cook for the workers at Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory. Later she brought warmth and joy to Shore Sisters in Wysox, where she worked in the deli and showcased her cooking talents. Her work ethic and the care she put into her culinary creations left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

A woman of faith and fellowship, Jeanette was a dedicated member of the Dille Parish. She found great joy in the camaraderie of the “Ugly Quilts” for the homeless, where she shared her love for sewing and her kindred spirit. Jeanette's life was a testament to the power of community and the strength found in shared passions.

Family gatherings were the highlight of Jeanette's life. She was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious homemade cookies, the best macaroni salad, and cakes that were always made from scratch. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen as she crocheted outfits for dolls, crafted Afghans for her family, and sewed her own clothing. A talented seamstress, Jeanette's creativity and skill were evident in everything she made.

Jeanette's love for her late husband, Duane, was a guiding force in her life. She often reminisced about their motorcycle adventures, traveling to the west coast at least six times. They were also part of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter “R” in Sayre, Pa. Those cherished memories brought her comfort and joy throughout her years.

Loving, faith-filled, and generous—these words encapsulate the essence of Jeanette. She lived her life with a heart open to giving and a spirit dedicated to her loved ones. As Helen Keller once said, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Jeanette's legacy of love and her spirit of generosity will forever remain a part of the lives she touched.
