Jerrine M. Zorn

Jerrine M. Zorn, 90 years old, of Barton, NY, passed away on October 17, 2018 at Elderwood Health Care, Waverly where she has resided for the past year. Jerrie is survived by her children: Lewis (Cheryl) Zorn, Tammy Moyer, Brian (Patricia) Zorn, her grandchildren Lisa Zorn-Benninger and Travis Moyer, great granddaughter, Destiny Zorn, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Perry-Zorn, several nieces and nephews and her special friend and roommate Bonnie Burns. Born on Aug. 25, 1928, in Endicott, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Freda (Wage) Seaver. At the age of 8, her family moved to Straights Corners. Here she attended the Tioga Central Schools where she met and fell in love with her husband to be, Irving (Hoopie) Zorn. With special permission, they were married when she was 16 years old and lived on their dairy farm. Work was no stranger to Jerrie. She drove tractor, bailed hay, plowed fields and also raised their five children. She was a member of Tioga Central United Methodist Church. Irving and her sons Kenneth and Bruce predeceased her as did her father, Fredrick, mother Freda Moro, brother, Kenneth Seaver, granddaughter, Kellie Zorn and great grandson Robert Zorn. Jerrie was very fond of all her animals, especially horses and enjoyed the Skyline Horse Club and horse square dancing. She also was employed by the Tioga Central School District working in the cafeteria and as a school bus driver for 29 years. Until a little more than a year ago, Jerrie was able to remain fiercely independent in her own home and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. She kept busy at Elderwood also…. playing card games, bingo and crocheting. A time of gathering and sharing of memories will be held at the Tioga Center United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Monday, Oct. 22, from 1-3 pm.
