Jessie Eichhorn of Nichols, NY went home to be with her Savoir on Saturday November 3rd in her 92nd year. She was born in Fair Lawn, NJ on November 26, 1915…the youngest and last surviving child of Douwe and Maaike Rispens de Bruin. She moved to Nichols in 1966. She graduated from William Paterson University and taught elementary education in the Eastern Christian School Assn. and Nichols Elementary School till her retirement. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Herbert who went home to his Lord in December 1995. She was a faithful member of Owego First Presbyterian Church were she worked actively in Bible studies, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and women's groups. Working for her Lord was her greatest joy. She was a member of the Friends of the Cady Library and Nichols Senior Citizens group. She volunteered her time as a literacy educator and in many other civic and religious activities. She is survived by her son Steven and Ann Eichhorn of Midland Park, NJ; her daughters Marilynn and Harry Myers, Carol and Howard Visscher both of Nichols and Christine and Rev. Hank Vlaardingerbroek of Hudsonville, MI. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; Bill and Leona Visscher; Matt and Tracy Visscher; Michelle and Frank Brackin; Christine and Tom La Fave; Karen-lynn and Jon Zull; Laura Eichhorn and fianc Peter Bosland; Cori and Jeff Vanden Berg; Janet and John Warnet; Hope and Matt Carter; Marcia and Adam Jansma; Sandra and Chadd Goodyke and 20 Great Grandchildren; Her sister-in-law Wally Eichhorn of NJ; many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews also survive. Funeral services and a celebration of Jessie's life will be held on Thursday, November 8th at 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery, Nichols, NY. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Thursday from 11 am until the time of the service.
