Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Joan Eiklor, 89, of Smithboro went to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Joan was born on December 17, 1926 in Sayre, Pa a daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn (Shellenbarger) Bennett. She was a graduate of Owego Free Academy class of 1944. On August 31, 1948, she married Harold W. "Bus" Eiklor together they shared many happy memories until his passing on August 16, 2007. Many will remember Joan and her beautiful smile, as she worked for over twenty years at the Tioga Central School cafeteria. She was a lifetime and faithful member of the Smithboro United Methodist Church, a member of the Barton, Nichols and Tioga Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed coffee with her friends Barb, Annie, Jeannie and Marion. Joan is survived by her children: Paula and her husband Paul Goble of Waverly; Lois Gowan of Nichols; and Dan and his wife Rose Eiklor of Waverly; her sisters Janice Miller of Asheville, NC and Ardith Bennett of Ithaca; her special grandchildren: Janet, Carrie, Jennifer, Kara, Kristen, Amy and Eric; great grandchildren: Shane, Dylan, Kaden, Joanna, Isabelle, Ada, Bowie, Kira; and many special nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold "Bus" Eiklor; son-in-law: Jack Gowan; a grandson Donnie Gowan and a brother Arden. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Thursday, May 26th from 10 am until 11 am at the Smithboro United Methodist Church. A service will follow at 11 am with Rev. Mary Jean Simonin, officiating.
