Hadlock, Jr., 81, of RR 3, Rome, Pa passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday evening, June 5, 2008. John was born on May 27, 1927 in Athens, Pa a son of the late John A. and Ethel May (Goodale) Hadlock. He was a veteran of the US Army where he proudly served his country as a 101st Airborne Ranger under the direction of General Maxwell Taylor. John was a true American Hero and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. John was an employee for the Town of Barton and also owned and operated his own scrap yard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and being surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by his wife Janice (Roof) Hadlock; his sons and daughters-in-law: Ron and Maria Hadlock of Athens, Pa; John and Deb Hadlock, Barton, NY; Mike Hadlock of Barton, NY; Jonathan and Darcy Hadlock of Towanda, Pa; Jamie Hadlock and Kenya Henning of Swiftwater, Pa; his daughters and sons-in-law: Jacquie and Bob Putnum of Adison, NY; Sue and Ed Rice of Barton, NY; Robin and Cliff Wood of Barton, NY; Lynn and Kevin O'Niel of Bunswick, Ga; Holly Springestead of Whitedeer, Pa; his brothers Donald Hadlock of Sayre, Pa; William Hadlock of Owego, NY; Harry Hadlock of Conroe, TX; Art Hadlock of Athens, Pa; sisters Lillian Cron; Dorothy Forman, and Mary Funk all of Athens Pa; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his parents John A. and Ethel Hadlock; an infant brother Georgie; and his first wife Mildred. Funeral services and celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, June 9th at 3 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with Pastor Wesley Nichols, officiating. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Monday from 1 pm until the time of the service at 3pm.
