John J. Uhl

Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all…. John J. Uhl, age 69, of Charles Street, Waverly, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012. John was born on June 17, 1943 in Far Rockaway, N.Y., a son of (the late) Charles and Marion Uhl. He was a graduate of Waverly High School and a long time employee of Ingersoll-Rand. John treasured the time spent with his family, enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and going to the casino with Christine. John is survived by his wife Christine of 43 years; his sons and daughters in-law: Darren and Nicole Uhl of Waverly; Travis Uhl of Waverly; Brandon and Alice Uhl of Fincastle, Va.; his special grandchildren: Kaylee, Sarah, Alex and Zevyn; brother and sister-in-law: Fred and Janet Uhl of Roanoke, Va.; sister Diana LaPlant of Corning, N.Y.; brother-in-law Mike Ames; sisters-in-law Kathy Westover; Lu-Anne (Robert) Spence; brother-in-law Danny Westover; as well as several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. John was predeceased by his parents Charles and Marion Uhl; sister Bonnie; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Ray Martz and brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Chris Uhl. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Friday, December 21, from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Waverly United Methodist Church. A memorial service and celebration John's life will follow at 5 p.m., with Pastor Anne Bey Canfield officiating. A gathering and period of fellowship will follow in the church hall.
