John James "Jimmy John" Blair

July 26, 1952 — January 24, 2013

Surrounded by his family, John James Blair, 60, of LeRaysville, PA passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home. "Jimmy John" as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on July 26, 1952 in Waverly, NY a son of the late Edward and Priscilla Blair. He was a graduate of Tioga Central High School class of 1970. Jimmy John was a devoted truck driver for Schneider, Lopke and Eastern. In addition he also assisted at the daily operations of many area dairy farms. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting with his buddies Brandon and Austin Shaffer and was able to kill his "dream deer" this hunting season. He also enjoyed listening to Kathy sing karaoke, was an avid Yankee's fan and watching NASCAR. Jimmy John was a member of the LeRaysville-Pike Volunteer Fire Department and the LeRaysville Minstrels. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Jimmy John, is survived by his wife of nineteen years Kathy, his children: Tim (Bonni) Blair, Owego, NY; Janene Dodge, Nichols, NY; Michael Shaffer of Dushore, Pa; Chris Shaffer of Dushore, Pa; Tammy Williams of Hornbrook, Tasha (Terry) Mowell of Athens, PA; Valerie (Casey) Perkins of Athens, Pa. His sibilings: Dennis (Debbie ) Blair, Richard (Donna) Blair, Patti Thomas, Laurie (Roy) Pyptiuk, Michael (Tracey) Blair, Jason Blair; Julie (Walt) Burrowes; Twenty Two grandchildren, three great granddaughters; A special Aunt Shirley Allen; aunts and uncle: Beverly Shaughnessy, Dennis (Sandy) Blair, Harvey Goodenough; his in-laws: Russell (Dorothy) Hunsinger, Louise Evans, Lida (Richard) Shaffer, Ruth Hunsinger, Marilyn Hunsinger; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Priscilla Blair; Gail Blair Waltman, the mother of his children; his grandparents Gladys and Raymond Lisenby; mother-in-law: Gladys Wright; brothers-in-law: Cecil Hunsinger and Ronald Hunsinger. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Sunday, January 27th from 7 to 9 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Jimmy John's life will be held on Monday, January 28th at 11 am at the funeral chapel, Pastor Larry W. Pelton. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the So. Hill Cemetery.
