Joseph F. Betzko, 82, of RR 1, Sayre, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 2, 2010 following a period of declining health. Joe was born on September 11, 1928 in Trevorton, Pa, son of the late Frank and Christina (Botteau) Betzko. He was a graduate of Trevorton High School class of 1947 and on July 15, 1948 entered into the US Air Force where he proudly served his country for four years. A knowledgeable and bright man, Joe continued his education and received his Associates Degree as an Electrical Engineer in 1969 from Monmouth College. Joe was a long time employee of the Communications Division of the Army and was recognized for numerous awards, inventions, many patents. In addition, he also authored and published "A Commonsense Approach to Caregiving" and numerous articles. Joe enjoyed woodworking, photography, bird watching, walking, playing with his dogs and spending time with his family. Joseph was predeceased by his first wife, Ellen (Costello) Betzko in 1992; his second wife Pearle Arnold Betzko in 2007 and is survived by his sister Catherine Dudash of Sunbury, Pa; Pearle's children, Anita (Robert) Bennett of Sayre, Pa; Donna (Stuart) Brink of LeRaysville, Pa; Shirley (Keith) Young of Litchfield, Pa; Denise (Dave) Viele of Greene, NY; Dan (Nancy) Arnold of Bumpville, Pa; numerous nieces and nephews among them a special niece Marsha Lebo. Joseph was also predeceased by his sister Mary (Elwood) Lebo and brother Lawrence Betzko. Funeral services for Joseph will be held on Thursday, October 7 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Interment will follow in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8pm at the funeral chapel and on Thursday, from 10 am until the time of the service at 11am.
