Joseph F. Caganek, 61, of Warren Center, Pa passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at his home. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 37 years Martha (Holmes) Caganek, his son and a very special daughter-in-law: Joseph and Kathleen Caganek; a special friend who was like a son to him, Dave Gamble; his granddogs, Daytona, Bristol and Tally; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary Staudt, Pat (Paul) Tanzini; Betty (Tom) McFadden; Bill (Cathy Potter) Holmes; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive. He was born on May 27, 1948 in Syracuse, NY a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Kocak) Caganek. Joseph spent his childhood on Binghamton's first ward where he was a member of St. Cyril Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Following graduation Joseph attended Miami Dade College and received his Associates Degree. On July 1, 1972 in Endicott, he married the love of his life Martha Holmes and they made Binghamton their home. In 1984, Joseph and Martha moved to Warren Center where he enjoyed the many beauties of the great out doors, especially being able to fish in his pond with Joseph and Dave. Joseph was employed in the Distribution Center for Olum's Department Store in Johnson City for over twenty years and was just beginning to enjoy his retirement. His gentle heart and caring ways will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to all the Emergency Medical professionals who responded and were there with us in our time of need. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 9 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Little Meadows, Pa with his pastor, Fr. Cas Stantis. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Warren Center Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Tuesday, November 10th from 5 to 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
