Josephine Jones

A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place….. Josephine Jones, 103, of Rock Stream, New York passed away on Friday morning, March 4, 2016. Josephine was born on May 13, 1912 in Orwell, Pa one of twelve children to John D. and Lida (Chamberlain) Platt. She was a graduate of Rome High School class of 1931. Josephine enjoyed crocheting, quilting, baking although her greatest treasure was being surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by her children, her son: Donald Jones of CA; her daughters and son-in-law: Barbara Brown of Rock Stream, NY; Yvonne and Charles Franklin of Palmyra, NY; her sister: Minnie Chaffee of Rome, Pa; nine grandchildren ~ Daniel (Cheryl) Jones, David (Jodi) Jones, Jolene (John) Raho, Scott (Jeannie) Brown, Sandra Fultz, Shareen (Dennis) Moore, Cindy (Bob) Surline, Deborah (Mike) Wyatt, Pamela (Jeff) Gambrill; nineteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Roy Jones in 1997; her daughter-in-law Mary Jones; her son-in-law: Kenneth Brown, her siblings: Milton Platt, Stanley Platt, Roger Platt, Clifford Platt, Raymond Platt, Genevieve Russell, Thelma Yednak, Beulah Tuttle, Ruth Platt and Virginia Foos; a brother-in-law: Ellis "Pete" Chaffee. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Thursday, March 10th at 1 pm at the Darling Cemetery.
