Julie M. Bill, age 52, of Smithboro, NY, passed away unexpectedly due to sudden heart issues on February 13, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born on July 10, 1971, to Alan S. and Diana Bill, Julie's warmth and vivacity blossomed early and touched everyone she met throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Tioga Central High School, class of 1990, Julie carried her passion for life into her work at Sam's Club, where she was much more than a food service employee. Her colleagues and customers cherished her for her loving nature and her ability to turn the preparation of meals into an act of kindness for those she served. Her work was not just a job; it was an extension of her enjoyment for being among people, creating an environment that felt more like a family gathering than a workplace.
Julie's love of the outdoors was evident to all who knew her. From the tender age of two, she was an avid fisherwoman, a hobby that brought her joy and peace. She shared this love with her companion of 14 years, Alan Hills, and together they looked forward each year to the annual Catfish Derby, a testament to their shared passion and companionship.
Her role as a mother was one Julie cherished profoundly. Her son and daughter-in-law, Dillon and Cheyenne Stilson, were the lights of her life. Julie's spirit of love extended to her grandchildren, Ella May and Morgan, who always brightened her day. Her brother and sister-in-law, Nathan & Shay Bill, along with her niece Nasha Bill, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, will remember Julie as the family's beacon of kindness and friendliness.
Animals held a special place in Julie's heart, particularly her beloved cats. Her gentle and caring nature made her home a haven for her furry friends.
Julie was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Theodore and Ella May Bill, maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Clarence White, and her aunt Shirley White. Their memories and the values they instilled in Julie lived on through her actions and the love she spread throughout her community.
Julie's life was one of connection and affection, and her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her. However, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and influence all who were fortunate enough to have felt her warmth. A quote that encapsulates Julie's outlook on life is from the renowned poet Maya Angelou, "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." Julie embodied this sentiment, always striving to bring light and happiness into the lives of those around her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, April 13th from 10 -11 am at the Barton Methodist Church. A memorial service to celebrate Julie's life will follow at 11 am. Her life story and the memories shared by friends and family can be found at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com, a space where her spirit continues to bring people together. Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to their local chapter of the American Heart Association in loving memory of Julie M. Bill
