June Marie (McCabe) Seelman passed peacefully away on July 20, 2018, after a long period of declining health. June was born on July 13, 1932, and grew up in Johnson City, NY, where she attended Johnson City High School and the Wilson School of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. She worked at IBM before retiring, at which time she became an avid volunteer in Nichols, NY, where she and her husband Dave lived. An avid literacy advocate, June was an Adult Literacy Volunteer, as well as an active volunteer with the Cady Library. She also volunteered at the Waterman Conservation Education Center and the RoKi Club of Nichols. In addition, she was a Master Gardener with the CCE Tioga. Her passions included reading, gardening, cooking, and preserving old-time homemaking skills. June was predeceased by her parents, Wilton and Christine McCabe, a brother, Gene McCabe, a sister, Dorothy Rought, her stepson, Errik Seelman, and her beloved husband of 50 years, Dave Seelman. She is survived by a brother, John (Sherry) McCabe, her stepdaughter, Stephanie (Scott) MacDonald, and her grandsons, Alex (Sydney) MacDonald and Ian MacDonald. The family would like to recognize and thank Elderwood at Waverly and Riverview Manor in Owego for four years of excellent and compassionate care. The staff treated her like family and made her feel like she was at home in a warm and loving atmosphere. Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation on Sunday, July 29, 2018, from 1-3 pm at Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main Street, Nichols.
