A mother holds her children's hand for a while….their hearts forever. Our loving mother and grandmother Junia Berry Meeker, 87, of E. River Rd., Lounsberry passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Junia is survived by her children: Beverly Meeker of Nichols; Carlene (Bob) Bullock of Maine, NY; son Robert Meeker of Port Crane; her special grandchildren: Benjamin and Trevor Bullock; Jordan and Madison Meeker; sisters: Bernice (John) Landmesser; Sarah Stephenson; Hilda (Pete) Bateman; brothers Gordon (Eleanor)Berry and Dale (Lorraine) Berry; brother-in-law: Michael Mowers. Junia was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Carl "Burt" Meeker on March 23, 2004; siblings: James Berry, Grace Hugo, Gretta Mowers and Melvin Berry. Junia was born on June 2, 1922 in Windham Township, Pa a daughter of the late Harland Patrick and Viola (Wiggins) Berry. She was a graduate of Nichols High School Class of 1942. On April 1, 1943, in Nichols she married Carl Burton Meeker and together they made Nichols their home. Junia enjoyed knitting, crocheting, spending time in her gardens, caning and being surrounded by her grandchildren. For many years, Junia was employed in the cafeteria at the Owego Apalachin School District. She also was a Tioga County 4-H Leader and where she shared her love and knowledge as an accomplished seamstress. Funeral services and a celebration of Junia's life will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing with the family will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral chapel.
