Kenneth "Ken" J. Cole, Sr.

Kenneth J. Cole, Sr., 79, of Dry Brook Rd., Tioga Center, NY passed away quietly at his home on March 20, 2010 following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Lois, children and step-children: Kenneth Jr. (Joyce) Cole; Laura (Albert) Hopkins; Todd (Karen) Cole; Frederick Best; Daniel (Rebecca) Best; Jeffery (Becky) Best; Lori (Thomas) Plaisted; Matthew Best; siblings, Elwood (Naomi) Cole; Eugene (Joan) Cole; Jean Cole; sister-in-law: Joyce Cole; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Ken was predeceased by his first wife Ruth, son Kerry and brother Carl Cole. Ken was born on March 15, 1931 in Sayre a son of the late Earl and Marie Johnson Cole. He was a graduate of Waverly High School and following graduation enlisted into the US Navy where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. For many years, Ken was employed as a mechanic for Syracuse Supply Company in Vestal. Ken was a member of the Tioga Center United Methodist Church, a master woodworker and enjoyed spending time in his gardens. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of his life on Saturday, April 3rd at 1 pm at the United Methodist Church, Tioga Center with his pastor, Rev. Donna Martin, officiating. A period of visitation and time of sharing will be held at the church from noon until the time of the service.
