With his loving family by his side and a long life well-lived, Kenneth T. Moore, Sr. happily walked into the arms of his wife Ruth once again after 13 years apart on his birthday, March 23, 2008. He was 98 years old. Ken was born in Towanda, PA on March 23, 1910, the son of Leon Moore and Edythe Bowman. Ken grew up in Towanda and the surrounding area and attended St. Agnes School. As a young man, Ken developed a love for farming and animals and worked on his family's farm. In 1925, his mother and step-father moved to Johnson City, and Ken worked for Endicott-Johnson as a tool and dye man. In 1929, Ken and his parents moved to Herrickville, and then to Irish Hill, where he began his life-long careers in both trucking and agriculture. On February 15, 1936, Ken married Ruth M. Austin of Nichols, NY, and they relocated the family dairy and sheep farm to Windham. Ken spent over 50 years working for Crowley Foods, Inc. as an independent milk hauler and over 75 years as a sheep exhibitor on a local, state, national and international level. Ken served as the President of the Bradford County Sheep and Wool Growers Association and served on the Board of Directors of the American Rambouillet Sheep Breeders Association. He was also a member of the American Shropshire Registry Association, the Continental Dorset Club, and the American Hampshire Sheep Association. Ken and Ruth traveled all over the United States with their sheep, seeing much of the country as they did what they loved the most. Ken was predeceased by Ruth, on February 10, 1995, his father, Leon Moore, his mother, Edythe Bowman Personious, his step-father Jay C. Personious, a grandson, Scott Moore, sisters-in-law Doris Austin, Edith Johnson, and Marjorie Hottenstein, and brothers-in-law Elwin Austin, Frank Austin, Louis Austin and Hartley Johnson. He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth, Jr. and Lorrie Moore of Windham, and Robert, Sr. and Nancy Moore, of Sayre, a daughter, Doris Powell , a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Barry Bowen, of Windham, 13 grandchildren, Glenn (Betty) Moore of Wysox, Gary (Kathy) Moore of Athens, Lee (Robin) Moore of Rome, Ronald Moore (and friend Vickie) of Towanda, PA, Brenda (Jim) Zajac of Rome, Kendra (Travis) Jacobson of Nichols, Dena (Howard) Benjamin of Towanda, Karmie (Kent) Brown of Chemung, Robert (Denise) Moore, Jr. of LeRaysville, Karrie Bowen of Chadds Ford, PA, Brian (Nancy) Bowen of Rome, Richard (Amy) Powell of Sayre, Geoffrey (Amanda) Powell of Nichols, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Florence Austin of Rome, Connie Austin of Sayre, and Iva Austin of Jacksonville, FL, brother-in-law Chauncey Hottenstein of Dushore, special friend, Glenda Moore of Rome, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols from 2-6 pm for a time of sharing and remembering Ken's life. A celebration of Ken's long and wonderful life will be held on March 29, 2008 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel. Internment and prayers of committal will immediately follow at the Bradford County Memorial Park.
