L. Lucille Smith, 86, of Hillcrest Dr., Towanda, Pa passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Affectionately known as "Lucy" to her friends and "Aunt Lucille" to her relatives and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was born on September 8, 1923 in Windham Township, Pa a daughter of the late Ward H. and Mavia (Cook) Brown. On October 10, 1942 Lucille married Walter J. Smith and together they have shared sixty seven wonderful years together. Lucy and Walt always treasured the time spent with family and especially enjoyed the holidays. Many will remember the special cards they always received throughout the year from "Lucy" and "Smitty" She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and shopping trips to area malls. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Lucy is survived by her loving husband Walter J. Smith; her brothers-in-law: Richard Smith and Ralph Kissell; sister-in-law: Louise Brown Tucker;nephews Larry (Lois) Brown; Robert (Sharon) Brown, Dale (Marla) Smith; Daryl (Nancy) Smith; Duane (Kim) Smith; Russell Kissell, Richard (Sondra) Kissell; nieces Donna (Bill) Repsher; Sharon (Conrad) Winter, Sandra (Carl) Curtis; Sheila (Ray) Howe; special neighbors and our lifesavers so many times, Donna and Ray Hoffmann; many great nieces and nephews and their families also survive. Lucy was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law: Alice and Ernest Meeker; a brother Walter H. Brown; sisters-in-law: Janice Kissell and Alma Smith. Funeral services and a time of remembering the special gift Lucy was to all of us will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Dan Martin of the Nichols United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Friday, January 1st from 5 to 7 pm and on Saturday, January 2nd from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral chapel.
