Lawrence "Larry" A. Adams

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.....Lawrence A. Adams, 82, of Bath, NY went to his heavenly home and to be reunited with his loving wife Phyllis Jean on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. Larry was born on December 27, 1936 in Afton, NY the eldest of thirteen children of Lawrence Short and Ruth (Adams) Warfle and step son of Robert Warfle. On July 27, 1957 he married Phyllis Jean (Rumsey) Adams and together they shared 62 years of marriage until her passing on March 31, 2019. Larry was a man of many trades, he worked for Stackmore Furniture in Owego; Bishops, Carey's Gravel, C&C Ready Mix in Vestal and Owego. His greatest pleasure was working with many area horsemen and traveling the horse circuit. Where he made many lasting friendships. Larry was a member of the Trotters & Pacers Harness Racing Association and the Owego Moose. He always enjoyed visiting area casinos for lunch and to try his luck. He will be greatly missed by his children: Phyllis (Richard) Brown; Steven (Wendy) Adams and Melissa (Dana) Swansbrough; his grandchildren: Stephanie (Kirk) Schroer, Sr.; Melanie (TJ) Brown, Raymond (Ann) Rogers, Ajay (Elizabeth) Brown, Dawn (Jerry) Houston, Phillip (Tegan) Williams, Shawn Williams, Shane Williams, Bridget Pinney, Brenda Mosher, Steven (Kristina) Tuttle, Annette Pond, Erica Pond, Megan Pond, Nikkie Pond, Miranda Swansbrough, Larry "Mikey" (Dana) Swansbrough, Dillon, Leslie, Karissa, Travis, Trenton, Steven, Quinton, Isabella, Annabella Swansbrough. His Great grandchildren: Kirk Schroer, Jr., Tyler Schroer, Dillian (Nicole) Wessels, Austin Wessels, Trevor Brown, Sonya Rogers, Aubrey Rogers, Kayla Rogers, Savannah Rogers, Kelsey Rogers, Tyler Rogers Alexis Brown, Valerie Brown, Hendrix Welfel, Zoey Welfel, Clayton Houston, Tabbitha Clapper, Sabrina Nornhold, Brennah Pinny, Tihanna Tuttle, Keisha Tuttle, Darian Martin, Dakota Beavers; Raylynn Swansbrough, Ariella Swansbrough and Desirae Swansbrough. Great great grandchildren: O'von Rogers, Josiah Rogers. His siblings: Carol Smith, Ruby Warfle, Kate Hunter, Jean Kinsley, John Warfle Sr.; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gerald Singer, Leslie (Karen) Rumsey, William (Betty) Rumsey, Curt (Wendy) Rumsey. Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. He was welcomed into heaven by his loving wife Phyllis; his son Lawrence Leslie "George" Adams; his siblings: Jr. Kinsley, Hilda Singer, Philip Warfle, Arthur Warfle, Cheryl "Spike" Patroskey, Geraldine Warfle, Arthur Eugene Warfle, David Eugene Warfle. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Saturday, December 7th from 11 to 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 1 pm. Larry will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Phyllis in the Tioga Cemetery.
