Leon Struble, 84 of Litchfield (Athens, Pennsylvania) passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre following a period of declining health. He was born on October 5, 1926 in Ghent, Pennsylvania the son of Leon W. and Ethel (Eiklor) Struble. Leon was an amazingly hardworking man, husband, father and grandfather. He owned and operated the family dairy farm in Litchfield all his life. In addition, he also spent many years working at Robertson's, a former John Deere dealership and equipment supply in Nichols, NY. Leon enjoyed diagnosing and repairing all types of farm equipment and machinery. He continued to do so, even after his failing health, by offering verbal guidance of his expertise to many. He loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting and most of all, telling stories. Early on, he was quite a marksman and in later years even tried his hand at golf. On October 24, 1950 he married Cora Rinker and together they raised two children. Leon is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and Daniel Seck, daughter-in-law Martha Struble all of Litchfield; his mother-in-law: Hetty Rinker of Windham Summit; four grandchildren: Daniel Jr. (Wendy) Seck of Owego, NY; Lisa (Justin) Nikulich of Endicott, NY; Amber and Amanda Struble of Litchfield; three great grandchildren, Jana Nikulich, Corey and Dylan Seck. Leon was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years Cora Rinker Struble in 2005; and his son Terry Struble in 2003. At Leon's request, family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11 am at the Nichols Cemetery with Pastor C. Kenneth Crain, officiating.
