Leroy W. Vargason

LeRoy W. Vargason, 71, of Hunt Creek Road, Nichols, New York passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. A life long resident of Nichols, LeRoy was born on May 22, 1936 a son of the late Merritt and Amy (Baldwin) Vargason. He was a retired employee of Hadco where he served as a Maintenance Supervisor. LeRoy was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Bryan and Amy Vargason; his son LeRoy Vargason, Jr. all of Nichols; his daughter Brenda Vargason of Knoxville, TN; daughter and son-in-law Terri and Ron Parsons of Bainbridge; brothers Merritt Jr (Sherry) Vargason, Gary (Charlotte) Vargason, Jim (Kay) Vargason, John (Joanne) Vargason; sisters Ethel Strong, Tessie Juliano, Lois (Leo) Holmes, Linda Strong, Mary Alverado; sister-in-law Joyce Allison; his special grandchildren: Branda Carrigan, Leann Patitucci, Lisa (Matt) Scull, Tessie Santiago, Tammi Parsons, Cortney (Doug) Nornhold, Ronda (Brian) Hoag, Naomi (Sean) Ramos and Jessica Vargason. Seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. LeRoy was predeceased by his wife Judith "Judy" Vargason on April 19, 2005; his brother Chester, Sister Salva; grandson Robert Carrigan III; brothers-in-law: Harold Strong and Frank Juliano. Funeral services and celebration of LeRoy's life will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with Pastor Gary Bryden, officiating. Interment will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Lounsberry. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Wednesday from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm.
