Lewis "Lewy" R. Walker

When someone you love becomes a memory….the memory becomes a treasure. Our loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa Lewis R. Walker, 94, of N. Elmer Ave., Sayre, Pa passed away following a period of declining health on Thursday, March 4th, 2010. "Lewy" was born on February 6, 1916 in Sayre, Pa a son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Scott) Walker. He was a graduate of Sayre High School class of 1937 and proudly served his country with the US Army. On March 16, 1943 he married Betty E. Park and together they made Sayre their home. Lewy was a machinist for Ingersoll Rand and retired in 1981. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1536, a member of the Sayre 4th Ward Fireman; Moose Lodge in Sayre; former member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, enjoyed dancing and tending to his garden. Lewy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Connie and Dave Isgar of Syracuse; daughter-in-law: Jolene Walker, sister-in-law: Eleanor Walker; his companion Virginia Johnson; special grandchildren: Jonathan Isgar, Douglas Isgar, Amy Isgar, Christine (Tony) Banka; Dana (Ron) Moulton, great grandchildren: Zachery Isgar, Morgan Isgar, Hanna Isgar, Jessica Banka, Matthew Banka, Parker Moulton and Amber Moulton; nephews Robert Walker and Donald Walker, Jr. Lewy was predeceased by his wife Betty on July 11, 1993; his son Gary P. Walker and a brother Donald Walker. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Tuesday, March 9th from 11 to 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Lewy's life will follow at 1 pm with his pastor, Rev. Ann Bey Canfield, officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
