Lisa Wagner, a cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Nichols on April 1, 2025. Born on October 4, 1936, in Augsburg, Germany, Lisa's life was a testament to love, dedication and the joy of simple pleasures.

On January 26, 1957, she married her beloved husband, Horst "Hank" Wagner. Together, they lived out their American dream, immigrating from the old-world through the busy streets of New York City to the quieter roads of Binghamton, NY. Along the way, they worked hard, raised their family and operated two wonderfully successful bakeries: Steinway Bake Shop and Wagner’s Cakes and Cookies where Lisa's generosity and friendly smile were as much a staple as the delicious baked goods she sold there. Retirement led them to the heart of Nichols, where she established deep roots and a warm home filled with love and the aroma of a savory meal cooking on the stove.

Lisa's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the love of her family. She is survived by her children, James and Lori Wagner of Owego, Susanne and Christopher Tracy of Binghamton, and Sandra Pragle of Nichols. Her legacy continues to blossom through the ones who call her Omi: her grandchildren, Clifton, Jackee, Alex, Devon, and Rayne, and her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Rylee, Amin, and Isabella. Lisa's memory will also live on in the hearts of her numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of beloved family and friends both in the United States and Germany. Though she was predeceased by her husband, Hank, on October 19, 2010, and her parents, Ludwig and Philomena Arnold, her brother Franz Arnold, sister Marianne VonBriel, and son-in-law Mark Pragle, the memories they shared will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew them.

Lisa's interests and hobbies were an extension of her nurturing soul. She took in every stray cat or dog that ever found their way to her door and she found peace and enjoyment in tending to her flower gardens which bloomed as vibrantly as her personality. Her kitchen was a haven of warmth where she whipped up her famous German Pancakes and the best potato salad one could ever hope to taste. Visitors to her kitchen table knew they could always expect a warm cup of coffee and, if they were lucky, some of her signature Christmas cookies during their stay. Lisa's hospitality was legendary, and her home was an embodiment of the quote by Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Described by all who knew her as loving, kind, and friendly, Lisa was a bright encouragement to all who knew her. Her fun and generous spirit comforted many, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
