If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever….our hearts were broken on Sunday, November 24, 2013 with the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandpa Lloyd V. "Mac" McDonald, 76, of Nichols. Lloyd was born on March 23, 1937 at home in Tioga Center a son of Ambrose and Eleanor (Pelham) McDonald. He was a graduate of Tioga Center High School class of 1956. On July 14, 1957 he married Sally Rogers and together they shared 56 wonderful years. Mac as he was affectionately known by his fellow co-workers, retired from IBM in 1992 following 36 years of service. Mac and Sally lived life to the fullest, together they shared many friendships with others while camping at Lake Bonin for over thirty-six years. Following retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Sebring, Florida. Lloyd was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church and attended St. John Methodist Church while in Florida. In addition he also was a member of the Owego Moose and in 1960's a member of the Nichols-Tioga JC's. Lloyd was an avid bowler~ (bowled a 300 in 1998); enjoyed playing cards, and hunting although his greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family and many friends. Lloyd will be greatly missed by his wife Sally; his daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Phillip Gallo; grandchildren: Heidi Gallo; Joseph Gallo and Jessica Barnhart all of Nichols; Phillip and Faith Gallo of Northumberland, PA; his great grandchildren: Wolfgang, Atreyu, Isis and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his fourth great grandson. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Donald White, Ruth Ann White, Rhonda and Ken Johnson and Raymond and Diane Houghton; many cousins and special friends also survive. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, sister Janet Houghton, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Purl and Edith Rogers. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 10 -12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Lloyd's life will follow at 12 pm with Pastor Dan Martin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
