M. Elaine Race

M. Elaine Race, 72, of Lake Placid, Florida and formerly of Candor, NY passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020 in Avon Park, Florida. Elaine was born on November 18, 1947 in Whitney Point, NY a daughter of Ernest and Pauline (Twining) Walter. Elaine enjoyed spending time cooking and tending to her garden. For many years, she was employed at Cornell University. In 1998, Elaine and her husband Sam moved and made Florida their home. On March 27, 2012, Elaine's heart was broken with the passing of Sam. Those left to cherish Elaine's memory are: her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Daniel and Dorla Race of Windham, Pa; Dana Race of Tunkhannock, Pa; Olin and Elsie Race of Alaska; Walter and Marilyn Race of Meshoppen, Pa; George and Joyce Race of Falls, Pennsylvania, Jacob Race of Windham, Pa. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Elaine was welcomed into heaven by her husband Samuel A. Race; her brothers: Fred Walter and George Walter; and a sister Donna Kelly. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, July 13th at 11 am at the Riverside Cemetery in Whitney Point, NY.
