Margie Atkinson

Margie M. Atkinson, 77, of Parsons, Kansas and formerly of Nichols passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at her home. Margie was born December 30, 1938 in Sayre, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Donald and Margie Marie (Saunders) Nichols. She grew up in Athens, Pennsylvania where she graduated from high school. For many years, she worked for IBM as a solderer, and later at P&C Grocery and Newberry's Department Store, in Owego. Margie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and was a foster mother to a young boy for two years. She and John Atkinson were married in 1970 in Owego. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1990. Margie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: David and Anne Ford of Madison, WI Kevin and Geri Ford of Tampa, FL; Her Daughter and Son-in-law: Debra and Scott McAdams of Parsons, KS; a daughter Diane Ford of Binghamton, NY; Thirteen Grandchildren, Six Great-Grandchildren;a brother Robert Nichols of Virginia. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Wednesday, December 14th from 11 to 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St. Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of her life will follow at noon with Pastor James Donahoo, officiating.
