Marian F.G. Brown

March 22, 1933 — December 2, 2014

Marian Frances Gamble Brown passed into the hands of God December 2nd, 2014 with family at her side after a long battle with cancer. Marian was born at home in Warren Center, PA, the first child of Carl Gamble and Lora Wilhelmina Snell Gamble on March 22nd, 1933. Marian grew up on the family farm and attended LeRaysville High School. She worked for many years as a seamstress and floor lady at several area garment factories. She also delivered Sunday papers from Binghamton, Elmira, and Williamsport to homes and businesses throughout Bradford County. She would eventually be employed by IBM Endicott where she assembled, inspected, and became a QC lead for various electronic products. She has always had a special place in her heart for children and seniors. She was always visiting or taking something to someone in need. She was very active in the IBM Club for employee's recreation and loved being Mrs. Claus at the children's Christmas parties. She loved crafts, cooking, family, old friends, a jet black 59 Chevy that she never wanted to part with and following High School sports whenever she could. She also loved gardening, especially flowers and could make almost anything grow. Marian has three children Wayne and Cinda Brown of Rome, PA, Yvonne and Curtis Cragle of Rome, and Kent and Karmie Brown of Chemung, NY. Marian is survived by her siblings Esther Marie Tyrell of Wyalusing, Pa, Earl James Gamble of Warren Center, and Alan and Susan Gamble of Englewood, Florida. Marian has many nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and was predeceased by a great-grandson Ethan Brown. The family would like to thank the staff of the Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit for their care, dedication, and love during her stay there as well as the Memorial Hospice who were so very helpful and caring. Thank you also to all of the friends she has collected over her life that visited her during her illness. It is Marian's request that there be no memorial or services at this time. The family will gather for a private celebration of her life at a later date. Memorials in her name can be directed to the NEB Education Foundation, 141 Morris Road, Rome, PA 18837 or you can honor her memory by taking a plant, a smile, and an hour of your time to visit an elderly neighbor, friend, or family member in a nursing unit who will truly love you for it.
