Families are like quilts, lives pieced together with smiles and tears colored with memories and all bound by love….Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend Martha A. Dewing, 87, of Warren Center, Pa passed away on January 15, 2015. A life-long resident of Warren Center, Martha was born on June 4, 1927 a daughter of DeLeon and Bernice (Pendleton) Abell. She attended school in Warren Center until the 10th grade and was a graduate of Vestal High School. On October 9, 1947, she married Robert E. Dewing, together they stitched a life of memories, raising six children. She enjoyed singing in the choir and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Martha was a member of the Community Bible Church in Little Meadows. Devoted to her Lord, Martha also worked as a teacher with the Child Evangelism Fellowship program. Many will remember Martha as she served others in the cafeteria at the Warren Center School. Martha enjoyed sewing, baking cakes, crocheting and quilting ~ she stitched her love into quilts for her children and grandchildren. Her gentle ways and caring heart will be missed by her family, friends and her community. Martha will be greatly missed by her children: Ronald (Georgie) Dewing, Rodney (Susan) Dewing, Donald (Teleka) Dewing, Barbara (Jim) Pavlik, Ann (Bob) Elliott, Dale (Joan) Dewing; a brother Dee (Anna) Abell; a sister Grace Dewing; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Russell and Ruth Dewing, Sr; sister-in-law Alice Abell; grandchildren: Ellen (David) Altland, Beth Dewing, Patricia Dewing, Randy (Joy) Dewing, Brett Dewing, Micah (Michelle) Dewing, Adam (Jennifer) Dewing, Benjamin (Ashley) Dewing, Andrew (Tiffany) Pavlik, Erin (Corey) Hagerman, Stephen Pavlik, Michael (Tara) Elliott, Amy Elliot (Jsus Clarke), Stacy Elliot, Nicolas, Megan, Kylie and Lydia Dewing. Great Grandchildren: Chase, Jonah, Hope, Mason, JessieLee, Maacah, Grace, Isaac, Malachi, Nathaniel, Damaris, Caleb, Samuel, Tavaris, Gypsee, Karmann Brookland and Amar'e. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Robert on September 17th 2012; brother Emerson Abell sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Paul Darling; brother-in-law Max Dewing; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Paul and Mary Dewing, Betty and Norman Darling. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday evening, January 23rd from 4-7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of a life well lived for Martha will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 10 am at the Community Bible Church in Little Meadows, Pa with her son Rev. Donald Dewing and Pastor Dale Anschuetz, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Coburn-Dewing Cemetery.
