Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed so very dear……Mary Ann Murphy, 61, of Woodland Lake Rd., Warren Center, Pa passed away on Wednesday evening, June 6, 2012 at her home following a long and difficult battle with cancer. Mary Ann was born on July 22, 1950 in Troy, Pa a daughter of Nelle and the late Layton Calkins. She was a graduate of Troy High School and a 1971 graduate of the Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing, Danville, PA. Mary Ann was a medical records supervisor at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre; also served as a clerk for Correspondence Management, Inc.; service manager for Smart Corporation and Head Nurse for Luray Medical Center. She treasured the time spent with her family attending the Troy Fair and in 1968 was the Dairy Princess. Fond memories of a 35th anniversary trip to Alaska, spending time at Walt Disney World with her grandchildren and vacation trips to New Hampshire will be lovingly remembered by her family. Mary Ann was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Friendsville; the Warren Center Senior Center. If love could have saved her….she would have lived forever. Mary Ann is survived by her caregiver and loving husband of 40 years, Gerald Murphy; son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Rachel Murphy of Camptown, Pa; daughter and son-in-law: Mara and Scott Whiteman of Pasadena, MD; her mother Nelle Calkins of Troy, PA; her special grandchildren: Noah, Grace, Eden, Luke and Iris; brothers and sisters-in-law; Alfred and Sharon Calkins of Troy, PA; James and Donna Calkins of Troy, PA; Gordon and Margaret Calkins of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; brother-in-law: David Murphy of West Yarmouth, MA; aunt Marie Foust of Canton, Pa; uncle Thomas (Marilyn) Calkins of Troy, PA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mary Ann was predeceased by her father Layton Calkins; her aunt Phyllis Stanton; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Richard and Mildred Murphy. Family and friends are invited to attend a calling hours and time of remembering the special gift Mary Ann was to all of us on Saturday, June 9th from 10- 12:30 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville at 2 pm with Father Casimir Stanis, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the parish cemetery.
