Mary E. Thompson,71, a creative and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023 at the Athens Health and Rehab Nursing Home. Mary was born on January 14, 1952, in Waverly, NY a daughter of the late Laurence and Annetta (Merrill) Turner. Mary spent her life touching the lives of others through her love of crafts, lighthouses, and celebrating holidays.
Mary's love for creativity was evident from a young age. As a child, she would spend hours crafting intricate designs from various materials, sharing her masterpieces with friends and family. Over the years, her artistic talents grew, and she became known for her unique and beautiful creations. Mary's passion for crafts extended to her love for lighthouses. Their majestic beauty and symbolic representation of guidance inspired her throughout her life.
Mary's love for lighthouses led her to explore the coastal regions of the United States, visiting numerous lighthouses along the way. Her fascination with these beacons of light was contagious, and she passed on her appreciation for their beauty and significance to her loved ones. Mary's dedication to preserving the history and legacy of lighthouses was truly remarkable.
In addition to her passion for crafts and lighthouses, Mary was known for her love of celebrating holidays. She believed that each holiday was an opportunity to bring joy and happiness to those around her. With her artistic talents, she would create stunning decorations and memorable celebrations for her family and friends to enjoy. Mary's enthusiasm for holidays was infectious, and she made each occasion extra special with her personal touch.
Mary is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law: Sally and Fred Williams; Barbara Jean Dixon; her children among them: Franklin Williams, Jr.; Alysia Jardin – Proctor; several grandchildren; nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Mary was welcomed into heaven by her parents Laurence & Annetta (Merrill) Turner; and her husband Robert Thompson.
Mary's life was a testament to the power of creativity, love, and compassion. Her dedication to her passions and her unwavering love for her family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished. As we celebrate Mary E. Thompson's life, let us remember the joy she brought to our lives and the lasting impact she made on the world around her. Mary will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire, NY.
