Mary W. Donnelly, 81 of Lounsberry, NY passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Riverview Healthcare Center in Owego, NY on Friday, September 7, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James, Sr.; her four children, Mary Ellen Gage of Nichols, NY, James (Valerie) Donnelly, Jr. of Owego, NY, Betsey Hale of Corning, NY and David (Shelly) Donnelly of Savannah, Ga., 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mary's life centered on her love of her family and community. Everything she did was about love. Her years as a 4-H leader helped prepare many young women for their future careers. As Mom told us in the last few months, " my greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and 4-H leader." Her commitment to her community was evident by her involvement in the Lounsberry Social Club, Catholic Daughters of America, Tioga County Dairy Princess Program, Home Bureau, as well as over 20 years as a 4-H Leader. She was the loudest fan at any sporting event that her children and grandchildren ever played. Coaching from the sidelines was her fort. A dedicated wife, she made the transition from work to home pleasant for her husband while keeping her children in line. As a mom and grandmother she made sure we always had what we needed, not necessarily what we wanted. But above all, Mom was a fighter. Most of her activities were performed while living with effects of Multiple Sclerosis for over 40 years. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 10 to 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of her life will follow at 12 pm with her grandson Pastor Andrew Donnelly and Deacon Michael Donovan, officiating.
