Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we'll miss you until we meet again. Surrounded by his family, Maxwell H. Godfrey, 64, of Waverly Rd., Owego passed away on May 1, 2009 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Affectionately known by his family and friends as Max, he is survived by his wife: Marlene (Martz) Godfrey; his sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren: Daniel and Mary Godfrey and children: Courtney, Kollin, Kaydince, Chelsea and Cheyanne. Steven and Abbie Macumber and children: Madison, Mackenzie, and Drew; Bryan and Julie Godfrey and children: Bryanna, Megan, Gavin, Garrett; Andrew Godfrey; a close family friend Steven Ulrich; many dear friends and family also survive. Max was predeceased by his mother Helena Godfrey. Max was a retired foreman for Ben Weitsman & Son following 18 years of service. He was an avid collector of antique gas engines, loved to spend time in his metal shop, tinkering with antique gas engines and his 1948 Ford car. Max was a founding member and President of the Tioga County Antique Engines and Tractors Club~and always enjoyed attending and visiting with others at area engine shows. Although his greatest pleasure was found when he could be surrounded by his family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A time of remembering the special gift Max was to all of us will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 2 pm at his home, 3929 Waverly Rd., Owego.
